Sex Addiction Therapy in New York City
For those with addictive personalities, sex can start as self-soothing — a temporary ally — and slowly become a self-made prison, shrinking one's world into isolation, despair, or dysfunctional relationships. Recovery reverses that.
How Oliver works with sex addiction
Oliver earned his certification from IITAP under the guidance of Dr. Patrick and Dr. Stefanie Carnes, and serves on IITAP's Diversity Committee. His approach combines:
- The Task-Centered Model (Patrick Carnes): a step-by-step journey toward maintaining long-term sexual sobriety.
- Somatic Experiencing (Peter Levine): learning the language of the body and how to dissipate trauma and distress.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, humor, and connecting with others.
For addicts — and for betrayed partners
Oliver works with both addicts and their betrayed partners, guiding them through the healing process of recovery. Recovery tools include gratitude lists, creating a supportive network, building self-esteem, unravelling problems, building spiritual connection, staying present, and letting go of resentments — one day at a time.
Healthy sexuality, not just sobriety
The goal is not only to stop the behavior, but to build a life filled with freedom, joy, and healthy sexual relationships — a world of endless possibilities. Oliver helps clients of all sexual orientations and gender identities navigate dating, relationships, and healthy sexuality in a hypersexualized culture.
